This is made by Jack Copus  from a 1983 pic of me

August 1999.  As you can see this is an old discolored picture of me as a baby.  I was born with red hair and blue eyes.  It's one of my only pictures being topless. :-)  I know it wouldn't have been a big deal if I showed my bare chest in this picture, but I still wouldn't have felt right about exposing myself like that...heehee :-)

My father, Robert J. Ensley,  (CLICK HERE to see a tribute story that I wrote about my Dad) was in the U.S.C.G. and got stationed in the Philippines.  Shortly after I was born I was living in the Philippines and didn't live in my birthplace (Oroville, CA) again till my dad retired in 1976.  My brother who is about a year younger than me was born in the Philippines.  My sister was born in 1962, Redwood City, CA.

We lived in many states throughout the United States, a few of them; Alaska, California and North Carolina.  I believe we either visited or lived at one time or another in every single state in the U.S.  It was very interesting meeting all kinds of different people, but it was also very sad at times.  It was difficult to always have to say good-bye to your friends.  When it came to good-byes, it would sadden me so much that I learned to become emotionally detached.  I could have easily become a regular cry baby and I didn't want that.  With many people that I was saying good-bye to, I would insist, let's not say good-bye, but just say, see you later.  I have been fortunate enough in my life to see many people later.

I got married to Keith Holmes, on January 21, 1978 in Oroville, CA.  I was barely 18 and he was 21 years old.  Ironically, me and my family had lived on Treasure Island, CA (military base) for several years prior to my dad retiring and I had never agreed to go out with a NAVY man.  I'm sure you've heard about their bad reputations.  Well, Keith was in the NAVY when I met him via his sister in Oroville, CA. :-)

Our daughter Shawndra, now 17 years old was born in Houston, TX on January 23, 1982.  I love her more
than I could ever express in words.

For a variety of reasons, I attended four different high schools.  I ended up graduating from Las Plumas H.S., Oroville, CA  in 1978.  My favorite High School that I attended was Notre Dame Saint Joseph High School, Alameda, CA when I was a sophomore.  Attending a Catholic school when you're not Catholic was very interesting.  It took me a while to get used to the uniforms, but I learned to look at the positive side to that. There were much less problems with decisions of what to wear. :-)

I went to Oroville Adult School, Secretarial Training and got a Certificate of Completion, September, 1986.  I received my Associate in Science, Business Administration (Accounting) from Butte College, Oroville, CA, December 1992.  I'm currently a Senior at California State University, Chico (Chico State), but I'm on an extended leave of absence at the present time.   I plan to eventually get my B.S. degree.

I love to learn!  I have done a lot of self study, especially when it comes to the computer!  I also love to write.  I have written in diaries/journals since I was ten years old.  I have actually had a few of my diaries stolen, but I still have most of every thing that I've written.

I took a correspondence course in writing from Institute of Children's Literature and was awarded a diploma in Special Publishing, September, 1998.  This was a great experience!  I feel like I got a lot more from Institute of Children's Literature, as far as special instruction and attention from my Instructor/Editor than most of the regular classes that I've attended.  I do believe because of their help I will get some of my completed short stories published.  :-)
